Tribute to Distinguished Alumni · A Light That Illuminates the Future

In the world of film and television, every ray of light, every shot, and every edit carries countless dreams and unwavering perseverance. To be recognized as a “Distinguished Alumnus/Alumna” is not merely a symbol of honor; it also means that the days that began on campus—choosing moving images as a lifelong calling—have not been forgotten, but instead proven over time.

曾敬驊

A young actor who rose above an open audition of tens of thousands—stepping onto the big screen and into the public eye.

He entered the Department of Film and Television with directing as his original aspiration. Thanks to his striking appearance, he was cast in an industry–academia production by his instructor, and it was at that moment that his love for acting began to take root—opening the path of performance. As a student, he repeatedly acted in films made by classmates and juniors, constantly refining his skills and deepening his passion and commitment to acting. In 2020, he also served as producer for the 6th graduation production short film 《單車計劃》, further strengthening his capabilities and understanding of the film and television industry.

He succeeded in auditions for the film 《返校》, portraying “Wei Zhongting,” which earned him a nomination for Best New Performer at the Golden Horse Awards. He later played Birdy in 《刻在你心底的名字》, opening a new stage for both box office success and critical acclaim. In recent years, he expanded into television, starring in 《不良執念清除師》, receiving nominations for the 28th Asian Television Awards and the 59th Golden Bell Awards (Drama Series – Best Leading Actor). In 2025, he won the 62nd Golden Horse Awards for Best Supporting Actor with 《我家的事》.

For juniors, Senior Jinghua’s journey is a reminder: there are no shortcuts in acting. Auditions, rigorous training, understanding a role, and getting back up after rejection again and again—this perseverance is the foundation that allows him to go steadily and far. When you stand before the stage too, consider this: every failure is a trial that leads you higher.

On and off the screen, her name carries both softness and resilience.

Since her university days, Xiaolü has actively participated in the production of many student short films, and she also bravely auditioned outside of school. For example, during college she starred in the short film (Kaohsiung Filming Project) 《洛基的視線》, helping the team win Best Narrative Film at the 39th Golden Harvest Awards. After graduation, she teamed up with alumnus Li Guanxian to create the short film 《我的水鬼爸爸》, which not only won the top prize at the Pingtung Film Festival, but also earned her the award for Best Actress. While continuing to take part in commercial productions, she also supports friends and partners from the department in their creations. In 2024, she participated in alumnus Chen Hanhua’s graduate film 《女綁匪》. Toward the end of 2024, she starred in the department’s 11th graduation production short film 《當風吹起時》. In 2025, she further starred in the department’s annual major production 《艾瑞亞》. Through her passion for acting, she not only keeps sharpening her craft, but also supports the creative work of juniors.

For juniors, her path demonstrates a dual possibility as both actor and creator: not only can you stand in front of the camera, you can also collaborate with others and push a project from concept to production. If you dream of acting and are also interested in creation, she is an example—never confined by a role, and always willing to explore across disciplines.

鄭仲迪 has long cultivated expertise in VR/XR and stands on the front line of immersive media development in Taiwan.

For many years, he has served at the Kaohsiung Film Festival as an XR “Technical Manager” and “Program Planner,” supporting and connecting multiple cross-disciplinary projects and showcases. His work often happens where you cannot see it: setting up VR devices, integrating systems for immersive content, calibrating spatial perception… It is highly professional and detail-oriented technical support—and a bridge where art meets technology.

The inspiration for juniors is this: cinema is not only about pointing a camera at actors. The boundaries of future visual storytelling are expanding into XR, immersive experiences, and interactive content. If you are passionate about both technology and creativity, look to Senior Zhongdi—by putting in the work on the details behind the scenes, you too can create stunning works.

To Our Juniors: You Can Go Further Than You Think

Different paths lead to different destinations—some move toward the spotlight, some cultivate the craft behind the scenes, some challenge new media frontiers, and some continue to work within traditional audiovisual fields. Yet they all share one thing: they never forgot they were once students. They auditioned in classrooms, adjusted lighting and color, tested edits late into the night. They were confused, they doubted, they were rejected; but along the way, they answered time and belief with real results.

A few words for you:
  • Master the fundamentals. Editing, lighting, cinematography, screenwriting—solid basics help you seize opportunities when they come.
  • Cross-disciplinary skills are your advantage. In today’s media landscape, XR, interactivity, programming, 3D, sound design—any of these can make your work more competitive.
  • Attitude matters more than talent. Rejection, revisions, and criticism are part of a creator’s daily life. Only perseverance and continuous output will let your voice be heard and seen.
  • Hold onto your creative “why.” In an industrialized production ecosystem, it’s easy to lose yourself in efficiency and business. But the desire to tell a story—to express something—is the soul of your work.
