Story Synopsis
The story follows Yao Zhiyang, a middle-aged man struggling with unemployment who works part-time in a factory. Confronted by systemic indifference, family pressure, and his own replaceability, he wavers between attending an interview or returning to the factory. Ultimately, he silently resumes his job. The uncollected screw symbolizes his helpless entrapment in the cycle of fate, expressing the theme: “It’s not that he cannot choose—it’s that choosing has become too difficult.”

This film also won the Best Editing Award and Best Actor Award at the department’s 25th Golden Seed Film Festival.
